Aboriginal Convention
It is customary in Aboriginal communities in Australia to
not name or reproduce images of the recently deceased. iDIDJ
Australia has taken all reasonable care to observe this convention.
Where reference to the recently deceased is considered necessary
to our understanding of the didjeridu's history and relationship
with the 'outside' world, the personal name of the deceased
is obscured by using an asterisk (*) in place of vowels.
iDIDJ Australia has made every effort to identify artists
and to contact relevant organisations, Aboriginal family groups
and communities for permission to reproduce images contained
within this web site. iDIDJ Australia apologises for any oversights
and welcomes feedback from Indigenous communities and arts
workers.
Every care has been taken by iDIDJ Australia to ensure no
objects of a secret-sacred nature are reproduced in this website,
nor restricted information included.
