Education
In this section, there's heaps of material to help you learn
more about the didgeridoo and its source culture. Whether
you're a didgeridoo player, or just looking for information
for a school project, there is something here for everyone...
'Didj in the News' is basically a media archive... anything
about the didgeridoo that we find in newspapers and magazines
we will put there. The 'Profiles' link brings you to biographies
of some of the most important Aboriginal artists and craftsmen
from the Top End of the Northern Territory.
If you want to learn about Australian Indigenous cultures
and languages, you can find useful information by following
the appropriate links. There's even some basic pronunciation
and conversational guides there for budding linguists!
Ok, so how do you play those complex rhythms that Aboriginal
players are so famous for? We've put together an online tutorial
to help explain the techniques... and there are some useful
drills to help you along the way to becoming a better player.
Try it and let us know what you think!
You've read all the books, watched all the documentaries
and listened to all the field-recordings. But you want to
experience it all first-hand? Our personalised eco-cultural
programs might be just the thing for you. These are a unique
and exciting way to gain deeper insights into the didgeridoo
and its use and meaning among traditional custodians of the
instrument in Arnhem Land.
Check out all the links in this section, and when you're
done, try the iDIDJ Quiz to find out your iDIDJ IQ!
