The Melbourne public will get the opportunity to experience
the magic of this musical-cultural phenomenon in November
2005!
With his Rripangu Yirdaki performance group, Djalu will be
in Melbourne, Australia, to share his culture, spirit, wisdom
and teachings...
Rripangu Yirdaki has extensive touring and performance history
and is one of a very few Australian Aboriginal performance
groups offering authentic traditional song and dance. Djalu
has been to Japan, the USA, Europe, Taiwan and the Middle
East to showcase his unique Galpu culture.

Djalu and his family are seeking to perform at local community
events, universities and schools, corporate functions, museums,
cultural centres, and music venues.
In Melbourne, Rripangu Yirdaki will consist of:

- Adrian Nyinanyina Gurruwiwi - grandson of Djalu; dancer
- Zelda Balpiyangay Gurruwiwi - daughter of Djalu; dancer

A series of Masterclass yidaki (didgeridoo) playing
and making workshops are planned, in addition to mesmerising
performances of traditional Yolngu song and dance.

Comments: Montsalvat consists of a series of historic
buildings set on 12 acres of beautiful parkland. It has a
long and proud history of supporting the performing and visual
arts. Students may bring their own didgeridoo or borrow one

is $25/$10 concession (children under 16, students with concession
card, unemployed, senior citizens etc.)

Comments: Heaps of activities, workshops, stalls, food,
competitions and music! A family-oriented festival not to
be missed, located on a significant Aboriginal site traditionally
used as a place for trade and ceremonies. The Bogong Moth
provided sustainance for the many groups that gathered here.
Rripangu Yirdaki will be offering workshops in didgeridoo
