As always, every didgeridoo offered in the iDIDJ Store is accompanied by a video clip of it being played, sometimes by more than one player. We do this so that you can see and hear the instruments before purchase... the next best thing to handling and playing it yourself.

There are also high-quality MP3 sound clips for those who need to listen carefully to an instrument's voice before deciding on a purchase. Some audio files are not yet uploaded, but in the meanwhile you can hear and see the instruments being played in our YouTube video clips.

Updated 11th November 2008: We have been away for 3 months on an extended field trip doing many exciting things as well as sourcing the best instruments that are made and played in the 'Top End' of Australia. Quick notes... Bunggathuwa is the youngest brother of Saltwater Band's Manuel Dhurrkay. In his mid-20s, Bunggathuwa only occasionally makes yidaki...

Those who have been paying attention will notice we've dropped the price on this stick by AUD$100 from yesterday. Not that we think this yidaki is not as good as we'd imagined initially. It really is kick-arse, but in the spirit of Christmas if the new price makes it more affordable to someone out there who really wants it, then we're happy :-)

A high-octane, freakish speedster with a Lamborghini engine, this yidaki has plenty of speed, energy plus Dhalwangu ochre artwork to boot. The instrument is thin-walled and light, giving it outstanding resonance and a responsiveness to die for.

Subtle tongue movements are greatly amplified due to the outstanding energy transmission from mouth to wood.

This is the sort of stick that needs only the slightest breath to bring it to life, even a child could play it.

A sassy yidaki made by one of the most respected names in Arnhem Land, this stick has an ideal interval between fundamental and overtone notes. The sublime acoustics are chewy and malleable and offers dreamy elasticity when playing those tongued accents.

Backpressure is really good without being overly compressed nor lacklustre.

This is a fun yidaki to play, those who were on Skype with myself and David Dharrapuy several months ago would have recognised this stick (see the iDIDJ Forum).

This is a brilliant player that is hard to put down and is something I regularly gravitate towards whenever I have a few spare moments to practice. The knobby, convoluted shape of this instrument gives it a very special type of acoustic signature which I feel drawn to, maybe it is that howling quality coupled with bassy response - in the key of G! This is a prized yidaki for the purist.

Burrngupurrngu's yidaki are legendary and his best are typically light, thin-walled, resonant, lively and responsive. On offer is such an instrument. The bore is completely natural and conical in shape. The result is an effortless stick to play with the sort of backpressure that allows one to keep on keeping on! These sorts of instruments are getting harder and harder to come by due to the scarcity of suitable trees at Garrthalala.

The ochre artwork of Dhalwangu miny'tji is not common and expertly executed by Bruce's wife Djul'djul Gurruwiwi.

A connoisseur's mago, this is a stick from Dhugurun's best years when his star shone brightest and his standards more exacting. He remains one Arnhem Land's leading craftsmen keeping the mago tradition alive.

This mago is made from Eucalyptus phoenicea or Scarlet Gum, a particularly resonant timber that has been the material of choice for craftsmen in the NW NT and Western Arnhem Land regions.
