November is Dhuludur', the pre-wet season build up in the Yolngu language. During this season it is hot and humid, thunder rumbles in the distance, and storm clouds threaten. Some early rain falls but this is soaked up by the dry ground. Magpie geese are still hunted as are long-neck turtles, nyangura, in the dried up swamp country. Bush fruits such as munydjutj, dangapa and narrani ripen in the eucalypt forests. People get cranky because of the heat and humidity.
